THE THINGS THAT STAY THE SAME

I travelled back to the UK to visit my old college in Cambridge for a reunion dinner. I was struck once more by the beauty of the place I had studied. And also by the weight of memories and a realisation of how much remained the same as the day my friends and I left to go into the world. The light between the columns under the library remains identical, as does the honey glow of the stone in the evening sun. In some ways it is reassuring to find that while many things in the world have changed in the years since we left, other simple and fundamental things remain the same.

Thank you so much to my friends for still being my friends!
